Milan Luthria is back with the sequel to his hit OUATIM, this time with Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi sinha and Imran Khan.
Pritam returns for the music composing duties for this flick as well. The lyrics are by the ever innovative Amitabh Bhattacharya, who replaces Irshad Kamil in this movie.
The album contains 4 tracks in all, which is quite less. Pritam has gone for quality upon quantity here.
The first song Yeh tune kya kiya, sung beautifully by Javed Bashir, is a sequel to the previous movie`s most popular song Tum jo aaye zindagi mein, which was sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
The song starts in the qawalli type mode and stays there. the interludes in the song are the same tunes from tum jo aaye zinagi mein, which reminds the listener that this song is like a continuation to the previous movie`s hit track.
Javed Bashir as always nails the song along with the help from wonderful chorus. Amitabh Bhattacharya`s lyrics are woven beautifully in the song, and as a continuation to tum to aaye zindagi mein it does justice to the song.
Second track of the album is a rehash of the famous Tayyab Ali song from Amar Akbar Anthony. Sung by Javed Ali, this rehash works only because it has a completely new lyrics for the antara part and new tunes for the antara which are woven masterfully by Pritam with the original mukhda.
Although, Javed Ali sings with much gusto and emotions, the notes are pretty high for his voice and I feel, Sonu Nigam would have been a better choice. As, for the lyrics, they are as funny and blackmailing as they can be.
Third Song is Tu hi Khwaish, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, is a cabaret number, to be filmed as an item number or on Sonakshi Sinha. Nothing more to write about this song. Run of mill stuff.
The last song is Chugliyaan, sung by Javed Ali and Saahil Bagga providing the Punjabi vocals. The song is kinda same like Pee loon from the prequel. Lyrics and tune are like the stock Pritam and Amitabh Bhatacharya stuff.
Very little to choose from a 4 track album, but Yeh tune kya kiya leaves a very distinct mark on the listener and hence is the best song from the track.
I give it 3/5 stars...
