JAB TAK HAI JAAN MUSIC REVIEW

CHEERS TO ALL OF YOU!!!

So the biggest and most anticipated album "JAB TAK HAI JAAN" is out...
The last movie to be directed by great Yash Chopra, it features music composed by A.R.Rahman and lyrics painted by Gulzar , the Academy award winning duo.
The album features 9 tracks.

Opening the album is CHALLA by Rabbi Shergill , a total punjabi sufi song, beautifully sung by Rabbi. It also sounds more like a Rabbi song than a AR Rahman song. The lyrics are beautiful...as expected by Gulzar.

Next is the star of the album HEER  sung soulfully by Harshdeep Kaur and to be picturised on Katrina. The song is definately the best of the album with its poetry and serenading tune, with the vocals invoking the emotions of listeners.

Next is Ishq Shava, A club song by Raghav mathur and Shilpa Rao, club number with dance beats and some imaginative lyrics by Gulzar saab.

Also an instrumental dance piece ISHQ DANCE features in the album, i dnt like instrumentals a lot, so no impression on me.

The title song sung by Javed Ali and Shaktishree Gopalan, this song definately changes the tempos and tunes 2-3 times in matter of 4 mins. Javed Ali does a wonderful job laying a wonderful foundation for Shaktishree to take it to the peak with her power vocals.

Saans and Saans (reprise) - Shreya Ghoshal and Mohit Chauhan team up for the mandatory love song to be picturised in Swiss alps fr the Yash Chopra movie.
the lyrics are wonderful with the tune sounding more like a Madan Mohan composition than an A.R.Rahman one.
Mohit Bari Chauhan is completely out of place here... a better choice would have been Shaan or Udit Narayan.
Shreya also performs the reprise version, the sad version with more pathos vocals. Sounding like more Madan Mohan song.

Last is the Poem Recitation by Shahrukh Khan set to tune of A.R.Rahman and written by Aditya Chopra. Adi does a good work int he poem and the tune is already well loved by listeners.

So overall it is a nice album, which will grow on you as u listen it for 3-4 times. My pick would be Heer, Saans and Challa....

4.3/5 stars from me.
